Boom Supersonic Raises $50M at $1B Valuation

We are super happy to share that Boom Supersonic has recently closed a $50 million investment from WRVI Capital at a valuation of more than $1 billion. Founded in 2014 by Blake Sholl, Joe Wilding, and Joshua Krall, the startup has raised a total of $210 million in funding. We are proud to be among the first investors of the company.

Boom Supersonic is redefining commercial air travel by bringing sustainable, supersonic flight to the skies. The team intends to make London – New York a 3h and half trip not only for the top class but also for the middle one. “We believe in a world where more people can go to more places more often – says CEO Scholl – Sustainable supersonic travel unlocks new possibilities for business relationships, prospects for vacation, and opportunities for human connection.”

The Boom XB-1 demonstrator aircraft rolled out this year and its carbon-neutral flight test program is underway. Test flights for the commercial plane are planned for 2026 and passengers flights are scheduled for 2029

Boom’s historic commercial airliner, named Overture, is designed and committed to industry-leading standards of speed, safety, and sustainability. Overture will be net-zero carbon, capable of flying on 100% sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) at twice the speed of today’s fastest passenger jets. Preorders for 30 aircraft have already been signed by Virgin Galactics and Japan Airlines.
