Growing a unicorn in Italy
Fireside chat with Federico Marchetti, who founded and grew Yoox into the first billion-dollar Italian startup.
Starting during the dot-com bubble of 2000, Federico Marchetti founded Yoox which became the first Italian unicorn business when it was listed on the Italian Stock Exchange in 2009. In 2015, Marchetti then led the merger between YOOX and NET-A-PORTER creating the world’s largest online luxury fashion platform combining data, artificial intelligence, and innovation with fashion, luxury, and creativity. It was acquired by Richemont in 2018 at a valuation of more than $6bn.
Pi Campus CEO Marco Trombetti will chat with Yoox Net-A-Porter Group’s founder Federico Marchetti about his lessons learned in building a multibillion-dollar company through a combination of technology, entertainment and retail without moving the company out of Italy.
