We are happy to welcome Hyris among Pi Campus’ startups! Hyris, a biotech company founded by a group of Italian guys, attracted our attention because it represents the “mobile” version of genomics: portable and accessible. The startup developed an integrated AI platform for DNA testing of biological samples in any setting, at any time, and with real-time access to results.
Hyris has focused its application on the nutrition sector, while also working with adjacent and complementary fields, such as pharmaceuticals, virology, and epidemiology. In recent weeks, Hyris has adapted its features to test for the presence of COVID-19 pathogens using World Health Organization compliant reagents.
We took part in a Series A round lead by Astanor Ventures, a major international venture capital fund, and subscribed by a strategic pool of Italian investors. Investing in Hyris confirms our choice to focus on supporting the Italian ecosystem during the COVID-19 crisis.
The funds raised will allow Hyris to strengthen the commercial deployment and marketing, working towards obtaining the medical diagnostics qualification of the platform and to develop a new automated, miniaturized sample prep companion solution.
